Insurance/Billing – Please make sure that if your insurance requires you to declare a primary medical doctor that you call them and make the change prior to coming for your appointment. Failure to do so may cause the insurance company to refuse payment causing you to become responsible for the medical bill. All outstanding balances and coâ€payments are due at the time of service. Payment Options and Co-Pays - Co-pays and outstanding balances are collected at the time of the service. This is not only our policy, but meets the agreement you have with your insurance company. We accept cash, checks, Mastercard, and Visa.
Referrals – We kindly ask that you give us at least one week notice if your child will be seeing a specialist that requires a referral. We are happy to fax the referral to your specialist. When calling to request a referral, please give us the name of the doctor, the type of specialist, the date and time of the appointment, the address, phone and fax number of the doctor and the reason for your upcoming appointment. If your appointment is of an urgent nature and you did not have an opportunity to give us notice (i.e. a broken bone), we will send your referral as soon as possible to accommodate you.
Medication Refills – Please give the doctor at least three (3) business days to refill your prescription. If it is of an urgent nature, please leave a message stating this with the receptionist.
Late Appointments/Cancellations – We kindly ask that you give us at least 24 hrs notice when cancelling an appointment. If you are more than ten minutes late for your appointment, we will attempt to accommodate you but reserve the right to ask you to reschedule so that the doctor can remain on time for the remainder of her patients.
After Hours Calls – If your child is having a medical issue which cannot wait until our usual business hours, a doctor is always on call to help. Please be aware that our doctor is home with her family after closing, and that after hours calls should be reserved only for matters of an urgent nature which cannot safely wait until the next business day. If you need to call the doctor after hours, please call the office at 410â€582â€9434 and follow the instructions to page the doctor on call.
Sick Visits with Well Child Visits - if you come to the office for a well child visit and you also want the doctor to address an acute illness, this will be done as time permits, taking into account the urgency of the illness. If time does not permit for both the well check and the sick visit to be done, the sick visit alone will be done and you will be asked to reschedule your well visit. If time does permit the doctor to address both issues, you may incur an additional co-pay. This may mean that although you do not usually have a co-pay for well visits, because a sick visit will also be addressed and charged at that visit, you may now have one. We will not waive the co-pay under any circumstances. This is not only our policy, but also meets the agreeement you and we have made with your insurance company. We also cannot "erase" the sick visit from the record after the visit, if you decide that you would not have wanted an issue addressed if you had realized there would be an extra charge. It is your responsibility to be familiar with your insurance and their rules as well as our policies. We would greatly appreciate it if you would let us know ahead of time if you have other issues to discuss at a visit scheduled as a well check, so we can try to schedule the extra time it will take to address these extra issues.
